Abbesses

The historic district of Montmartre is primarily served by two metro lines; line 2 and line 12. Both lines are well connected to other central metro lines and make getting to anywhere in Montmartre easy.

Metro Line 2

Paris Metro line 2 runs across the city from east to west. Montmartre sits right in the middle of the line and is subsequently accessible from three of the stations. Line 2 runs directly underneath Boulevard de Clichy, the lower part of Montmartre.

Anvers

Exiting the metro at Anvers will leave you on Boulevard de Rouchechuart and less than 200m from Sacré-Cœur. Just cross over to the Rue de Steinkerque, a heaving spot where you can pick up a souvenir or two, and you’re at the bottom of the Sacré-Cœur.

Pigalle

Exiting the metro at Pigalle will leave you in middle of Paris’ red light district. Pigalle was once home to Paris’ bohemian nightlife and today still maintains its thriving atmosphere, with bars and restaurants a plenty.

Blanch Metro Station

Blanche

Exiting the metro at Blanche you will find the world famous cabaret the Moulin Rouge right in front of you. The station is also a very short walk from the Montmartre cemetery.

Metro Line 12

Metro line 12 weaves up and around Montmartre, taking you to the upper part of the area, where many hotels and sites are situated.

Lamarck – Caulaincourt

Perhaps the most famous metro entrance in Paris, the front of Lamarck – Caulaincourt is the station featured in Amélie. Exiting the station here will leave you in the middle of one of Montmartre’s most charming and quiet areas. Lamarck – Caulaincourt is also the closest metro stop to Place Dalida, le Musee du Montmartre and Cimetière Saint Vincent.

Abbesses

Abbesses is Montmartre’s most centrally located metro station. Nestled in the charming Place des Abbesses, the station leads you directly to the heart of Montmartre. Surrounded with cafes and restaurants, Abbesses is only a few hundred metres from the Sacré-Cœur and even closer to many of the areas theatres and museums.

Jules Joffrin 

Jules Joffrin metro station is situated in the most residential section of Montmartre. Sitting on the the most northern periphery of the area, Jules Joffrin is a great place to stay to avoid the tourist hustle. A short walk to the Sacré-Cœur, the station is in close proximity to all Montmartre’s attractions.

For guests of ours, both Abbesses (4 minutes away) and Blanche (5 minutes away) will take you closest to the hostel.
